Hello Kelly family, you have our deepest condolences. My wife and I had the honor to have met Bishop Kelly only a small portion of his life but his effect on our lives still last to this day. The joy that he was able to stir up was truly a gift of God. Our favorite memory is of a time when we all traveled from Jacksonville Nc to Jacksonville Fl. Picture this, the bus was loaded from front to back and it was in the dog days of summer, so hot that the bus kept over heating causing the bus driver to pull over a couple times. The attitudes that swirled around in that bus was crazy, but when we finally made it, we can never forget the song Bishop Kelly orchestrated as he began to exist the bus. The lyrics that flowed over his upbeat New Orleans second line swagger engulfed the whole bus. With that iconic Bishop Kelly smile and heavenly voice he sang:
He’s mad
I’m glad
He missed a soul that he thought he had,
as this catchy declaration was proclaimed from person to person the spirit of joy began to explode in us that all at once we where having church in the same sweltering heat that had once robbed us of it. That was the type of man he was to us, ever ready to do spiritual ware fair. Rest, awesome man of God. You have fought a good fight and trained up worries along the way. To Dr Kelly our prayers of comfort are with you and the family during this time.
