Mr. Nathan A. Chapman, Jr., age 63, of Baltimore MD, transitioned Saturday, January 17, 2021 in Seasons Hospice at Sinai Hospital. Mr. Chapman was born September 3, 1957 in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Chapman was an Investment Banker in the Finance Industry for many years. The public viewing will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD (21133). Due to Covid-19 restrictions the family will have a Private Wake and Homegoing Services for Mr. Chapman. ****Obituary**** The Life of Nathan Alfonzo Chapman, Jr. Nathan A. Chapman, Jr. was born September 3, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of the late Nathan Chapman, Sr. and the late Ida Inez Shields Chapman. He was preceded in death by numerous beloved family and friends. Nathan has left as a legacy, a full life of giving and sharing. He leaves to cherish his memories: a special friend, Gina Smith; daughters, Taylor (Chris Coleman, loving partner), Jordan and Jillian Chapman; two grandchildren, Trinity and Elias Coleman; very special cousins, Gloria Shields Junior, Vanessa Jeffries, Levi Shields, Jr., Maxine Shields, George Hardison, Renee Eure and James Shields, Henrietta Shields, Margaret Chapman Calhoun, Echol Chapman, Sr., Ruby Mae Chapman, Bettiann Chapman Moore, William P. Chapman, Jr., Aaron Chapman Jr., Laura Chapman Brownlee, Ada Chapman Williams, Harold Williams, Dorothy Williams Nash, and a host of loving relatives, dear friends, and loyal colleagues. Nathan was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system and attended Elementary and Middle School in the Edmondson Village area. He was a gifted athlete and graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic High School in 1975. After that, he joined the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 1976. He then attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science, with a minor in Accounting in 1979. After receiving his degree from UMBC, Nathan worked as an accountant for Peat, Marwick, and Mitchell and passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination. He then pursued a career in investment banking and worked for Alex Brown and Sons as an investment associate. The Chapman Company was created in 1986; his dream of being an entrepreneur began. In 1987, he also incorporated Chapman Capital Management, an investment advisory and Management Company. Nathan loved the Lord and served as the head of the Real Life Today Church's technical ministry, and participated in all types of public service to help and support others in need. When he was a colon cancer survivor, he appeared in public service announcements for the Department of Veterans Affairs Cancer testing and prevention program to tell his story and promote the importance of getting tested. Nathan also gave time to raise money for charitable organizations. He was a visionary and had great leadership abilities; in addition to having a very generous heart. During Nathan's college and career years he belonged to several organizations. He was a very committed member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; and was also a member of the elite Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (Boule). In December 2013, he was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Nathan was an avid learner he studied at the Howard University School of Divinity. His entrepreneurial spirit took him to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), institutions in South Carolina and local colleges where he earned numerous certifications. Nathan was always a family oriented person. He spent the holidays with his mother's family here in Baltimore and traveled to the southern and Midwestern states to visit his father's family. Nathan loved to go fishing with his uncles and cousins in Norfolk, VA. He always had a competitive spirit and was a serious athlete; he loved basketball, lacrosse, wrestling, running, bike riding, baseball and football. He enjoyed the training and participated in several marathons and triathlons. There were many strong role models in his life. Nathan loved one his uncle's for his determination and durability, because he was a successful entrepreneur. Nathan admired his uncle very much and looked up to him for advice because he wanted to start his own business. Nathan was loyal to people who put their trust in him. He had purpose for his life and loved to help and serve others.
