Dear family,
Your daughter Lena was one of the most kind and smart persons I have known. She was always thoughtful and made sure her friends knew that whe was there for them. At work, she was bold, confident and considerate. She was admired and respected.
I worked with Lena for several years at the Department of the Navy. She was always a wonderful person to be around. We became close friends and participated in several activities together. She visited me at my home, when I had a baby and kept me company all day. She went to outings with me and other friends and we shared so many great conversations. She prepared my work farewell luncheon when I left to work at a new job. I missed her so much over the years. Around 2016, she told me that she was not keeping in touch with several people and I respected that. I continued to send her birthday wishes over social media and I always thought about her. I decided to do an internet search of her name this weekend and then I found this obituary. Thanks so much for keeping this open. I was so sad to read this but I felt better when I read about the love that was shown to her by so many people.
I thank God for allowing me to know Lena. She is the perfect example of a friend and I will strive to be a friend to others as she was to me.
Love, Tracey

Dear Family and Friends of Lena:
Lena was truly a noble and beautiful woman of God. We had several conversation at church which led me to believe that she trusted God no matter what, but was praying for a healing of the cancer that she fought. Lena never received her healing on this side of Heaven, but now Heaven is her eternal home, where death is nowhere to be found. Lena fought the good fight, and now is in the presence of the Lord who remains faithful and true to those who put their trust in Him. Lena put her trust in Jesus, and as someone else has said, she persevered until the end. May God's comfort and loving embrace be felt by all of her family and friends who love and miss her.

My thoughts and prayers are with Lena's family. I know Lena suffered for such a long time with cancer and am happy for her that she is with Jesus with no more suffering, but I pray for God to comfort her friends and family as they miss her smiling face until they are able to see her again in heaven. Even though Lena struggled with health and stress at work, she continued to have a strong faith and hope, attended church whenever she could, and even helped out with the children's ministry. I used to teach the 3rd grade Sunday School during the 9am service, and Lena taught during the next service. I would enjoy sitting and talking with her between the services to go over the lesson and give her any pointers and catching up with her. She was a wonderful woman, and will be sorely missed, but I am thankful that she has received the crown of life and I am sure she heard those words from Jesus, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

I am praying for Lena's Mom, family, and friends; I pray that you feel God's presence with you, his comfort and his love for you, now and in the days to come. I was blessed to have Lena as a friend and was inspired by her faith in God. Lena truly lived out her faith, and she sought to use every opportunity to witness to others about the hope that she had in the Lord so that they may believe as well. I recall her joyful service in Vacation Bible School and in Kids Ministry, worshipping with the kids through song and dance, teaching and discussing God and life applications of faith. Lena lived such an intentional life of faith and worship. She persevered in amazing ways while dealing with cancer. I will miss spending time with her; I am thankful that she no longer has to struggle.
Love and blessings of comfort, fond memories, and reassurance in the promises of eternal life to Lena's family.

I admired Lena's strong faith and her trust in God. She was consistently in the Word, praising God for his sustaining strength and presence in her life. Although she will be missed, I'm thankful that she's pain free and in the Lord's presence. Our condolences to Lena's family.

Lena was very sweet and kind-hearted. She always had a very positive attitude despite her circumstances. I admired her strength and love of Jesus! I will truly miss her; however, I know that she is in a much better place, free of pain and affliction. To her dear mom, and family, please accept my sincerest condolences.

and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

Some of my favorite conversations with Lena took place at the Crossroads Women’s yearly retreats. I was always struck by Lena’s fighting spirit and incredible intellect. It was apparent to all that she believed in the power of prayer. I am thankful that she is no longer pain. Our family’s deepest condolences to Lena’s beloved family.
