Dear Ann and Family,
With a heavy heart, I write this letter to you as we gather to remember and celebrate the life of our beloved brother, Charles Matthew Alexander, affectionately known as "Pete" by his fraternity brothers. He was one of the 26 brothers who crossed the burning sands on May 22, 1971, marking a historic moment for the largest line on our university campus for the fraternity—the Delta Delta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Pete served our chapter with unwavering dedication and commitment. His contributions to the fraternity were immeasurable, and his passion for our brotherhood was evident in everything he did. If you knew Pete, he often spoke his mind, and while his candid nature sometimes rubbed folks the wrong way, it was always clear that his intentions were rooted in love for the fraternity and its members.
He was a man of integrity, strength, and compassion. His presence brought warmth and camaraderie to our gatherings, and his absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him. Pete loved the fraternity and the people within it, and his legacy will continue to inspire for years to come.
As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the countless memories and moments we shared with him. His laughter, wisdom, and unwavering support will forever be in our hearts. We are grateful for the time we had with him and for the impact he made on our lives.
To his wife, Ann, and the family, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We stand with you in grief and celebration of a life well-lived. We will miss Pete, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who know him.
With deepest sympathy and brotherly love,
The Alumni of the Delta Delta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.

It is with extreme sadness that I write this tribute to my beloved younger brother and my best friend.. We have shared so many good times together. I am so thankful to God that two weeks ago you were at my house with our beloved spouses and I cooked dinner for everyone. I will always remember family vacations, watching the Raven games , going to the Raven games, and family holidays. I love you to the moon and I will always miss you. Spencer

You always told me I can find the words to write just what I need to say. Today those words aren’t coming to me. It’s been just 9 days and I’ve already celebrated a birthday and a holiday without you. XoXo Randi
