We send our most sincerest condolences to the family and friends. Reverend Harris and his late wife, Deloris, were our friends with joyous spirits. We rejoice that they both are now with the Lord and with each other. Their homegoing is our lost, but heaven's gain.

Our deepest condolences to the family of Rev. Alton Harris. He was a good friend who never forgot us. He called to check on us and he and Sonny enjoyed long conversations on the phone. We were saddened to hear of his passing; but we know that earth has no sorrow that heaven can not heal. We will miss you Rev. Harris. You and Deloris are together again.

Minister Harris and I were long time friends and brothers in Christ. I met him in the mid-seventies at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. We were both newly converted babes in Christ at that time. Due to our love for God's word and our love for our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ a bond was immediately established between us. We lost years of contact after my family moved to North Carolina in 1977. But it was just a few years ago that we somehow got in touch again and after all of these years the same friendship and fellowship picked up again. This time was done over the phone. Almost 45 years had gone by, and we were no longer new converts. Having each other's phone numbers led to hours of Theological discussions, when most of the time we would agree, but there were times when we disagreed, then there were times when we agreed to disagree, but always with respect and in a spirit of love! Some of our phone discussions epitomized Proverbs 27:17 where it says, "Iron sharpens iron."
I will miss Minister Harris, but I thank God, I will see him again on the other side.
