I missed Señorita Perkins’ service, but she is gonna get her public flowers from me today:
Srta Perkins was my foreign language teacher in the 80s at Glenarden Woods Elementary. She was strict. She cared about her students. She was *excellent*. I still can count to ten in Russian and sing the first verse of the French national anthem because of her. Truthfully, I am able to teach my Spanish to OTHERS because of the foundation that was given to me by Srta Perkins.
I have always remembered the lessons she taught, the encouragement she offered, and The Look she gave when we were cuttin up.
She not only taught us languages, but made sure that we had a Black History profile every day over the announcements in February.
Señorita Perkins was an absolute light in PG county and I pray that we all keep her in our minds and hearts. I know I will.

While I am not there physically, Ann and Bitsy, you know how I feel. I remember Glenn’s “dedication service “ 60 years ago and how proud/happy she was to hold her godson in her arms for the first time! I will miss our conversations and laughter.

In loving memory of my dear cousin, Jeri, whose vibrant, intelligent, and gifted spirit touched us all. Jeri had a heart as melodious as her voice, and her passion for singing resonated in every note she shared with her church, community, and with the world. Her joyous tunes and Godly spirit brought warmth to our gatherings, and the echo of her laughter harmonized with the memories I will always hold close, and sealed within my heart. Jeri, you will forever be our cherished songbird, now singing in the symphony choir in the presence of our Lord and Savior!

Ms Jeri Perkins was and always will be a bright lite in our hearts. She was not only an awesome foreign language teacher for both of our daughters in Greenbelt middle but unbeknownst , she was a wonderful friend to my parents Deacons Raymond & Frances Hamilton at New Shiloh .
