Obituary of Timothy Douglas Wilson

Timothy Douglas Wilson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Timothy was the sixth of nine children born to the late Estella Homer Wilson and Timothy Woodrow Wilson. Born in Lake Wales, Florida, he lived a life that was marked by dedication to education, his community and his family. Timothy D. Wilson graduated from Roosevelt Senior High School where he was the President of the Senior Class, President of the Student Government Association and he also earned a letter for playing the clarinet in the band. From 1959 to 1963 he attended Morehouse College, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. While at Morehouse, Tim served as President of the Senior Class and was active in the Student Government Association. He later earned an MBA from Atlanta University and an MPA degree from the University of Baltimore. His commitment to education laid the foundation for a lifetime of achievement and contribution. Mr. Wilson's extensive education was evident through his many diverse careers. He worked as a Project Manager in the Office of Training at the Social Security Administration and as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Morgan State University, Coppin State College and Sojourner Douglass College where he shared his wealth of knowledge and experiences with countless students. He also served as Manager of Human Resources at Westinghouse Electric Corporation and served our country in the United States Navy. Timothy's contributions transcended academia and career achievements. Tim was a faithful, active participant in his church and community and was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. He was a faithful and active member of the Northeastern Alumni Chapter of Roosevelt High School and the Ednor Gardens -Lakeside Civic Association. Additionally, he spent countless hours at Arlington Elementary School where he served as the Mentoring Program Coordinator for the Baltimore Metropolitan Morehouse Alumni Association. Mr. Wilson loved God and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a longtime active member of Union Baptist Church. There, he served on the Board of Trustees for over 40 years, Board on the Head Start Center, Comfort Ministry, Welcome Circle, Senior Usher Board, Men's League and in 2006 he was named the Union Baptist Church Man of the Year! During his declining years, Tim joined the Shiloh Baptist Church of Baltimore County under watch care where he enjoyed worshiping with his niece Lisa and her family. A true intellectual, he loved reading and was happy to share books and titles to spread both knowledge and the joy of reading. Tim enjoyed engaging in lively discussions with family, friends and colleagues. Known for his inquisitiveness, conversational prowess, wit, and the ability to impart his own special kind of wisdom, Timothy D. Wilson had a distinctive way of making an indelible impact on those around him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Edward, Louis B., Jeff C. and Willie Gus (Dusty) Wilson. Timothy's passing leaves a void in the lives of his daughter Ludessa Henry-Kohn, his grandsons Jason O. Henry and Dariel T. Henry and his siblings, Juanita D. Jenkins (William), Margaret A. McRae, Teddy W. Wilson (Barbara), Estella M. Johnson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. In honoring Timothy Douglas Wilson's memory, may his spirit of wisdom and intellectual curiosity continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives he touched. May he slumber in eternal peace; his legacy, an enduring beacon of light for generations to come. On Friday, December 15, 2023, services for Mr. Wilson will be held at Union Baptist Church, 1219 Druid Hill Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21217, where the family will receive friends at 10:00AM, followed by the Alpha Ceremony at 10:30AM and funeral services at 11:00AM. The interment will take place at Willow Lawn Cemetery, 5000 Washington Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853 on Friday, December 29, 2023.
