Our world lost a fantastic human being in Oscar Melvin. We all knew him as a great friend, smart, talented and compassionate.
But for me---it's even more. His genuine kindness, generosity of spirit and encouragement helped me through one of the darkest periods of my life. I have always appreciated that and I shall never forget it. Love and condolences to my friend Joyce and the family.

Oscar fought a good fight, a true veteran. He kept on moving through pain and sickness. Oscar never complained. One virtue of Oscar was his humility. Although he was a renown educator, he never bragged. My heart goes out to Joyce his beloved wife and the family.
