Karen
I’m still crying I think I always will
But the laughter is never far away
Karen laughed so easily
I think that’s why she called sometimes
Just so we could share a laugh (and we always did)
I always felt good after talking with her
Even when she called from the ER
or her hospital room
or during dialysis
We still laughed we still found something funny to share
I’m so glad I talked to her on Saturday (can it be just four days ago)
We always said, “I love you” before we hung up
I am so glad I told her that I loved her on Saturday
I can’t believe we won’t ever talk again
That we won’t ever laugh again
It’s hard to write through these tears
But I am smiling
“I love you, Karen”
