Obituary of Karen Lynette Williams

"But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.: Galations 5:22-23 Karen Lynette Williams, daughter of Cynthia DeLeaver-Coates and the late Charles B. Williams, was born on March 9,1967 at the Church Home and Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her academic training in the Baltimore City Public School System including: Harford Heights Elementary School, Northern Parkway Junior High School and graduated from Northern Senior High School, class of 1985. Karen accepted the Lord as her personal Savior as a teenager in 1984 and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. Theodore D. Addison, Sr. of Rising Zion Baptist Church. In addition to attending Worship Service, she was an active member in the Youth Ministry, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and Mountain View Bible Summer Camp. She was also a Girl Scout. Shortly after graduating high school, she moved to Los Angeles, California to live and work with her special aunt, Michelle (Banks), who was her guardian angel when she was a child, along with her Uncle Rodney. After 10 years, she returned home to Baltimore, where she was employed at several businesses and government agencies. Her favorite assignment was with the State of Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles. In 2008, she transferred her membership and joined the Good Tidings Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Pastor Ray B. Johnson, where she served on the Usher Board until 2012. Thereafter, she worshiped and fellowshipped with the Zion Hill Baptist Church with Bishop Asa Armbrister and became a member under the pastorate of Pastor Douglas Logan in 2016. Karen lived life to its fullest. She was a kind-hearted, loving, helpful, caring and nurturing individual with a witty sense of humor. Life adversities did not escape her. Never complaining, she face opposition head-on and kept moving forward with enormous courage, determination, and strength from the Lord. She was predeceased by; Her beloved father, Charles B. Williams; uncles, Frank Johnson and George (Moon) Williams; great-uncle, Charles Johnson and great-aunt, June Johnson; maternal grandparents, James R. and Clara F. DeLeaver; uncles James (Tony) R. DeLeaver and Jesse U. DeLeaver; aunt, Janice Elizabeth DeLeaver Jones; a very special cousin, Denise Althea Jordan Kane and Godmother, Diane Anderson. Karen leaves to cherish precious memories: Her loving and devoted mother, Cynthia DeLeaver-Coates; uncles, Douglas DeLeaver (Margie), Rodney V. DeLeaver (Mary), Wendell Johnson and Harry Johnson; aunts, Jacqulyn DeLeaver-Pitts (Curtis), Michelle DeLeaver-Olson (Eric) Helen DeLeaver, Idella DeLeaver, and Bessie Arrington; grandmother, Lillie Mae Johnson Lee; half-sister, Tonya; half-brothers, Eric and Craig; two God-brothers, a host of special biological and adopted uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives, friends, lifelong sister-friend, Audra Thompson Watkins and her loving Sophie.
