Obituary of John Wilkerson

John Wilkerson, age 99, the second of three sons, was born on January 22, 1924, to the late Charlie and Blanche (Turpin) Wilkerson in Turner Station, Maryland. John received his education in the Public Schools of Baltimore, Maryland. John served in the United States Army during World War II as a Private from 1943-1946. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he gained employment from several establishments as an electrical welder for Bethlehem Steel, as a signal man for Pennsylvania Railroad, and later gaining employment with Morgan State University where he worked for thirty-five years and retired in November 1992. John met the former Annie W. Reese, who was the love of his life. They united in Holy Matrimony and from this union, they were blessed with five children: Monroe Gilliam, Jr, the late Cynthia A. Lowery, the late Eartha V. Wilkerson, Karin Wilkerson-Wallace, and Janice Wilkerson. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A viewing will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Vaughn Greene Funeral Services - East, 4905 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. The funeral will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Israel Baptist Church 1200 N. Washington Street, Baltimore, MD 21213. The wake will begin at 10:30 am. The burial will follow the services in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.
