Obituary of Daron Rodney Reid

Daron Rodney Reid, 42, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on February 11th after his 3-year battle with stage four pancreatic cancer. Daron was born on January 29th, 1981, to Rodney and Monica Reid in Baltimore, MD. He spent his early childhood in Irvine, CA. As a military family, they later moved to Camp Pendleton where he completed the majority of his schooling. Daron fell in love with football while living in Oceanside, CA. In 1998, the family moved back to the East Coast and Daron attended and graduated from Fitch High School in Groton, Connecticut. After graduating high school, Daron attended and earned his bachelor's degree from Western Connecticut State University and received his master's degree from Grand Canyon University. During his college years at West Conn., Daron was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., – Mu Phi Chapter, in the Spring of 2003. Daron was employed for over 16 years in the Baltimore County Public School system and served the past 9 years as the Behavior Interventionist, Head Football Coach, and Assistant Track & Field Coach at Dulaney High School. Coach Reid, as he was fondly called, mentored students throughout the State of Maryland. At an early age, Daron fell in love and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He practiced the love of Christ, which was evident in how he treated others, with an unselfish and caring demeanor. Things to remember about Daron: his deep, powerful voice, a larger-than-life smile, strong hands and most importantly, his gigantic heart. Daron married the love of his life, Lia Pellegrino-Young on July 3, 2010. He is the proud father of three beautiful children, Giana, Cruz, and Vida. Daron loved all things West Coast and dreamed of one day returning to beautiful California. He was an honest and true person, dedicated educator and coach, loyal friend and devout family man. As we also all know, he was a die-hard Raider fan!!!! He was affectionately called Ron, Big D, Fat Boy, Coach and Daddy. Ron was predeceased by his grandparents, Delores Wilson, Dorothy (Rain) DeShazo, Alvin Reid and his great-grand parents. Daron leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Lia, children, Giana, Cruz and Vida, mother, Monica Wilson Reid, father, Rodney M. Reid, brother Derek Reid (Sheba Peart), sister Tanea Reid and half-sister, Mikayla Heffron; father and mother-in-law Paul Young & Mary Pellegrino, brother-in law, Myles Young (Sarah), sister-in-lawEva Nevarez (Adrian), nephews Cahari, Dylan, Alonzo, Calvin, Leandro, and Kodiak. Ernest Wilson, Sr, grandfather and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, Godparents, and close friends to include Daron's extended family: Peter, Jamaar, Mark, and Marlin. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Vaughn Greene Funeral Services, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133. On Friday, February 24, 2023, a service of celebration will be held at the Vaughn Greene Chapel at Randallstown, 8728 Liberty Road, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. with services to follow.
