Obituary of Tyrone Delano Willoughby, Sr.

Tyrone Delano Willoughby, Sr., 73, loving father, peacefully transitioned on Tuesday December 27, 2022. Tyrone was the middle son of decorated World War II veteran Madison (Mack-late) and May Lois (late). He was affectionately known as "Fats" by family and close friends. Tyrone was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools system and graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institution in 1968. During his time at Poly and later while attending the Community College of Baltimore (CCB), Tyrone was a prominent football player. He studied Business Administration at CCB. Professionally, Tyrone enjoyed a rewarding career at Delta Airlines where he worked for over 30 years. Tyrone fought for equity and inclusion in hiring and promotions while working at Delta. He was the first African American entrepreneur to be a major investor in the first black owned shopping center in Baltimore. Tyrone loved to travel. He traveled to Europe, the Philippines, Canada, Amsterdam, and nearly every island in the Caribbean. He was a devoted son, father, professional, and friend. He was a courageous man and even risked his life to save the lives of his teenage friends at the age of 15. Tyrone loved life and survived many health issues. He displayed tremendous courage despite whatever he was coping with. He was a gentle giant, a most devoted friend, and a lifetime Baltimore Ravens fan. He loved his son and daughter and adored his grand-nephew, Tristin, whom he prepared to be another devoted Ravens fan. He was the lifelong friend of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Chestney, Dr. Willie Hamlin, Henry Daniels, and Sam Alexander. On April 5, 1969, Tyrone married Leslie Carver. From that union a son and a daughter were born: Tyrone Delano Willoughby, Jr., (TJ) and Marissa (Reese) Gullion. On August 8, 1992 he married Janice Carter. He leaves to mourn: his partner of 16 years Pablita Mackey, his son Tyrone Jr., his daughter Marissa and son-in-law Frank, his brothers Mack and Gregory, his sisters-in-law Jean (Mack) and Sandra (Gregory), his uncle and aunt Baleegh and Pasty Shaheed, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. On Friday, January 20, 2023, friends may visit Vaughn Greene Funeral Services, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown MD from 4:00PM-7:00PM. On Saturday Services will take place at Vaughn C.
