Joseph Harris

Obituary of Joseph X. Harris

Joseph Harris, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, life partner, uncle, brother and friend to many was born on November 28, 1943 to the late William Henry Harris Sr. and Marian (Comegys) Harris transitioned suddenly on November 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Harris was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Joseph was a fun-loving and compassionate man; family meant more to him than anything else in the world; his life passion was auto mechanic and home improvement; he could fix anything if he had to do with a car or a house. He loved to laugh and to make people laugh; anyone who knows him knows he was quick to crack a joke and then laugh so hard it would make you laugh. Joseph often mentioned how he was unendingly proud of his daughters and grandchildren; when he spoke of them, he beamed with the light of the sun. When you came into his presence you left with a smile, knowing you were cherished and loved. He was a very healthy man, and he loved his herbal medicine as well as chasing his grandkids around and having them chase him. We fondly called him Superman as he was so vibrant even until the end. Joseph was predeceased by his mother, Marian Harris, and his father, William Henry Harris Sr; his brothers, Daniel, David, William jr., Morris, and Ralph Harris; his sisters, Floretta Tillman, Ethel Butler, and Aletha Williams. And his son Tyrone Medlin and Grandson Joshua Harris. He leaves to cherish his memory of love and devotion: his life partner Diane Smith; his daughters Nia and Zina; bonus daughters Terri(Paul), Tracy( Michael), and Tawanda(Rayfield); his granddaughters Aminah(Carlton), Shanieka, and Makayla Childs, Tiffany and Kelli, his great-granddaughters, Shaquan, Iyana, Aubrey, Miracle, Kamiya, and Gabriella(Gabby), his great-great grand Daughters, Zion, Aalora and Syncere, his son Tony, his sons-in-love Carlton Jr (Hootie), Maurice, Carlton Sr., Paul, Michael, Rayfield, grandsons Devin, Paul, Benjamin, and Joshua. His great-grandsons Daquan, Jarrell, Carlton (stink), James, Julius, and Liam, his great-grandson Carlton(Rolo), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
