Obituary of Sharon Annetta Anderson-Oliver

Sharon Annetta Anderson-Oliver was born to the late Richard and Alverta Anderson in Trenton, New Jersey on February 5, 1951. She had one Brother Donald Brown who preceded her in death. Sharon received her High School Diploma from Dunbar Senior High School. She later received her college degree from Baltimore City Community College with an Associate of Arts in Communications and a minor in Human Services. In 1970, she married John Lawson Jr. and had three children. Sharon grew up in the Gilmor Homes Projects, where she made many friends. They spent their summer nights cooking out, eating crabs and playing cards late into the night with the music was blaring. Sharon loved to dance, she was featured on the dance television show Moon Man Connection. She also auditioned and was first selected for the television show Soul of the City, which was syndicated for more than 10 years. Sharon was flashy dresser who benefitted from her mother being a professional seamstress. Being Petite, Sharon wore and modeled her mother's handmade clothing well. Everyone was in awe, calling her a ragging sister. She caught iconic fashion mogul Travis Winky's eye. Who signed her to his modeling company, where she traveled performing for years. As Sharon got older, her gift of gab help land a job at Bell-Atlantic as a phone operator. Where she worked there for more than 10 years. Sharon was not satisfied with just a job and wanted a career. She was hired at Mass Transit Administration in 1979 as a bus driver and retired June 1998. She was a no nonsense driver. Either you were standing on a bus stop or you got left. During those years she gave birth to another son. While at MTA , she met John Oliver. They became best friends, confidants, companions, dance, spades and travel partners. They joined union in 1997 at Greater St. John Baptist Church. They both were active members. They served faithfully and loved the Lord and made many members who became family. John and Sharon have been side by side since. Their love have been unconditional since the beginning. Sharon was a people person. She loved doing for people. She liked to laugh, joke around, sew, dress up, play cards, party, arts & craft and dance. She volunteered and instructed a line dance group called Stepping at Pratt at the neighborhood Enoch Pratt Library. We all know she loved to talk. And most of all, Sharon loved the Lord. Sharon leaves to mourn her beloved husband John Oliver, two sons Marcus Brown and John 3rd and wife Sharnette Lawson, two daughters Alicia Autry and Marcia Smith, fourteen grandchildren two of which preceded her in death , seven great-grandchildren, one stepson Reginald and wife Phyllis Oliver, two step-daughters Maurgaurette Rutledge and Samantha Oliver both of Tennessee, one brother-in-law James and wife Dorothy Oliver and one sister-in-law Millie Oliver, host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
