Obituary of Sarah Marie Caplan

Sarah Marie (Wyatt) Caplan, fondly called Marie or Ree by close friends and family, died at Northwest Hospital on September 14th, 2022 at the age of 95. She was born on April 3rd, 1927 in Baltimore's Remington neighborhood. The daughter of Vivian Wyatt and Eugene T. Wyatt, Marie graduated from Carver Vocational School for dress-making in 1944. She then went on to graduate from Dunbar High School in 1945. An excellent seamstress, Marie often made outfits for special occasions over the years. In 1963 Marie married Jack Edward Caplan, and they settled in west Baltimore running their own corner store together. They celebrated 29 years of marriage before the death of her beloved husband in 1992. Marie was also predeceased by a sister, Ernestine K. Dixon and a brother, Eugene T Wyatt, Jr. Surviving are her three children…a son, Calvin Brown; daughters Vivian Brown and Kimberly Caplan-Santiago and her husband, Jaime Santiago; three grandchildren: Adam Nicolas Santiago, Jordan Marie Brown and Jaime Antonio Santiago; many cousins and friends.
