Obituary of Mildred Higgs Knights

Mildred Maxine Higgs Knights, fondly called Mildred Mommy by her grandchildren, was born on September 14, 1937, in Halifax, NC. She was the daughter of the late Fred Higgs and Bartie Williams. Mildred moved to Baltimore at an early age. She was a proud 1954 graduate of Dunbar High School. Upon graduation she worked in various organizations spending approximately 30 years between Bendix and Westinghouse. In that life span she married Lester Read Pridget Sr., who preceded her in death. In later years she earned her Nursing and Home Nursing certificates. She loved the Lord and served faithfully as an usher for Ray of Hope Baptist Church. Her favorite scripture was John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever belleveth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. On May 26, 2000, she married her loving husband, Joseph Knights, who she fondly called, "Uncle Bunny." With a loving and generous heart, she loved assisting anyone she could. She enjoyed attending church, reading, family & friend gatherings, cooking, and dancing. Five sons, Maurice T. Higgs, Kevin T. Pridget Sr., Lester R. Pridget Jr., Ingemar Pridget, and Kenneth O. Pridget, one sister, Pauline Trogden, and one grandson Kevin Higgs preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn: Her husband, Joseph F. Knights; son, Montel Pridget; three stepsons, Joseph F. Knights Jr., Jerome Knights, and Jason Knights; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and host of other relatives and friends.
