I met Vernon in 1977, when I moved to Balto from Calif. I had just got married and was working at Prison's Aid. Vernon was young and had the overnight position. I found him back then and always to be very caring and attentive.Vernon was always advance for his age. As the years move on he was moving up.It was a delight to know Vernon. May he rest in the arms of God. Thank you Brother Vernon for your friendship. To his wife and family you were blessed.

Vernon was one of the most amazing human beings I have known. I knew him from the days when we were acolytes of some of the most powerful black men in Baltimore, the Legendary Goon Squad. During our years as friends and associates, I never saw him take the advantage of another human being; his objective was to help them and never to use them in a way that brought no credit to them or himself. There’s not a lot of people I would call remarkable, but at the top of the list of those would be Vernon. I will painfully miss my brother - his smile, his humor, his wisdom and his clear and accurate insights about others that we humorously shared but kept between us. He was one of the few people I knew that I could tell the whole truth to and know I would never hear it again.

Vernon will always be remembered as genuine, sincere, funny, honest, just an overall good brother. Of the many times I was in his presence, what stands out the most is the big grin on his face after I introduced him to Linda in the alley behind the building where Linda and I worked. He referred to her after that day as "Linda in the alley" and I must say it was love at first site for him. Linda kept a smile on her face too. A good man, husband, father, friend, co-worker and mentor, the earth is a little more empty without him. I pray his family finds peace in the many happy memories they had with him.
