I met Akilah in college. At Liberty. We had several classes together and were really good friends. We went out to eat, and had a large group of friends we socialized with regularly. Our community and sense of togetherness was just unmatched. I will never forget those times because they were the most pleasant and precious memories. I went to see Kirk Franklin and Tasha Cobbs with her, and we had such a blast. True friends are hard to find. Akilah had a spirit and energy about her that was just like no other. I am in disbelief...that she's not with us.
Akilah, I feel bad that we never got the chance to link back up after college. I always thought about it and we talked about it. It just never happened. I also remember and thank you for reaching out to me when my mother passed. Although we didn't reconnect, I'm glad that we kept in contact online.
Rest in peace. You are dearly missed. and you will forever be in my heart.
