Me: “Hey there, Mary Lee … how ‘you doing?”
Her: chuckling first (smile) “I’m doing just fine Tina. How are you, Jerome and the children doing?”
And from there, “at least” a 30 minute call to catch up on family, neighbors, health and especially the goodness of the Lord! Not one conversation ever went on without covering those matters. And honestly, I think I loved our talks more than she could have even fathomed. She loved hard and prayed hard for all she loved, so … you had better not come for ANY OF THEM (lol). She was way quick with any comeback, so slick talk had no victory. And, let me add that she was a comedian in her own right, merging fun and facts - LOVED IT!! Our conversations were the best from start to finish, in person or over the phone. Her love for her family was truly immeasurable, sharing her joy about all of her children, grandchildren, other family members, close friends and church members, even those preceded in death. And so, that same kind of love she so generously poured out to the masses. I am so eternally grateful for God placing her in my life in the late 90s, where we shared our loved of caring for children in our church nursery. From ministry, to friendship, to support, to family. Her love for God was undeniable and she had no problem praising him for ALL THINGS - good, bad or indifferent. She has been a true witness, worshipper and testament of God’s faithfulness even unto death, and she declared that she would. And as she would always end our conversations, “you take care of yourself, tell everyone I said hello, and I love you!” And me: “I love you, too!”
I miss and love you dearly, but God loves you best! Fly high and rest in heavenly paradise, my sweet Mary Lee! You have truly earned your wings!!

I will always hear your voice reverberating your daily mantra whenever we parted, "I love you Cliffy, have a good day." Your love will always be the cornerstone of my life and, in your honor, I will continue to build upon it.
