Bernice and I were Department Heads at different schools in the same department. She was an excellent educator and department head for the Baltimore City Public School System. She served our children well. After her retirement, she was truly missed. My prayers are with the family and may GOD continue to bless them. I know that GOD will give them strength as they go through this time of bereavement.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved Mrs. Beaird but there is joy in knowing she has been reunited with her beloved husband and one of our true heroes, our Montfort Point Marine….they both were the inspiration for so much of the Harriet Tubman reunions and activities. These occurrences will never be the same with their absence…there was so much more we wanted to share with her…my sincere sympathy and condolences go out to her extended family, especially to the two nephews we saw with her at every Tubman activity…the caring sons of Mr. Nathaniel Gibson…one of our favorite Tubman teachers …they are well equipped to carry the torch forward for Harriet Tubman High School…Rest in peace Mr. and Mrs. Beaird…your legacy and that of your beloved Tubman is in good hands…it is farewell for now but we can never say goodbye…Love to all the family members of this beautiful couple..thanks for sharing them with us…God bless you all.

Mrs. Beaird was most loved by Tubman High School students/graduates who saw her EVERY year at our annual Tubman Day celebration in Howard County. She and Mr. Beaird attended the 50th year anniversary celebration of Tubman’s class of 1965 in 2015 and wrote a personal note to my sister and I saying how much they enjoyed seeing all the former students. We will treasure that note forever. I truly loved her. She was so upbeat and inspiring and she will be sorely missed by all “Tubmanites” !
But she is now back with the love of her life and in his arms once again. God called her home and she is at peace.
My condolences to the Gibson brothers, her beloved nephews and sons of my favorite Tubman teacher, Mr. Nathaniel Gibson. I know you’ll miss her.
