Obituary of Geraldine Cole

Geraldine Cole, age 93, transitioned Monday, October 11, 2021. Mrs. Cole was born January 16, 1928 in Cleveland, OH. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Cole will be held on Monday, October 18th at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church,4909 Harford Road Baltimore, MD (21214) where the family will receive friends from 11:00AM-11:30AM with services to follow. Obituary Geraldine Cole was born on January 16, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Larry Blanchard and Ruby Cooper. She passed peacefully from this life on October 11, 2021. She was surrounded and supported by her family during the last days of her life. "Nanny" as she was affectionately called, was educated in Cleveland Public Schools. She was a graduate of Central High School. Nanny was a home maker until 1969 when she returned to her prior occupation as a Nursing Assistant at St. Vincent Charity Hospital. Nanny accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Wanting to be closer to her grandchildren and great granddaughter, Nanny moved to Baltimore, MD in 2007. While in Baltimore, she joined the New Psalmist Baptist Church where she attended worship with family, and she looked forward to the singing of the Brotherhood Choir. She also enjoyed her visits to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Nanny enjoyed good preaching, singing, and praise dancing as it proclaimed the word of God. Nanny took pride and genuinely loved her family, friends, and church. A woman of few words, she had the gift of compassion and the gift of encouragement through her presence. She instilled strong Christian values in the four generations under her, and the need-to-know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Her family remembers her delicious home cooked meals and they loved her generosity and her special gifts of love. She enjoyed lively discussions about sports, soap operas and her judge shows. Most of all she loved completing her crossword puzzles and reading her bible. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Stratton Cole and her brother Melvin E. Blanchard. Left to cherish her wonderful memory: Daughter, Marcia Lynette Jackson; Son, Eric E. Cole (Debra); Grandchildren, Chelisa (Dant'e), Erica, Terron (Chinara) and Krystle; Great grandchildren Donya', Sheyanne, De'arya, Iyara, Dant'e II and Terron Jr.; Great great-granddaughter, Nova and a host of other relatives and friends who will truly miss her.
