Harrietta was born on January 5, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, becoming the third daughter of the late Elizabeth Davis and Harry Wallace. A woman of strength, grace, and beauty, she lived her life on purpose with joy in her heart. Harrietta received her early education in the Baltimore City Public School System, first attending Elementary School #156 in the Mt. Winans community. She attended Cherry Hill Junior High School and graduated from Douglass High School in June, 1962. She continued her education at Morgan State College (now University) receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1966. Harrietta subsequently received a Master of Science in Supervision and Administration in Physical Education from Morgan State University in 1974. She went on to receive a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development in 1983 from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Harrietta was a dedicated and conscientious teacher in the Baltimore City Public School System, retiring after 36 years of service. She taught at both the Junior High and High School Levels, starting her teaching career as a Physical Education teacher at Gwynns Falls Park Junior H.S. She continued her teaching career at the following High Schools: Eastern, Dunbar and Walbrook, teaching both Physical Education and Dance, which was her passion. From 1983 until her retirement from Walbrook, she was Acting Department Head of Physical Education, Athletic Director and Fine Arts Teacher in Dance. In addition to teaching in the Baltimore Public School System, following her passion for dance in the 1970's, she taught at the Community College of Baltimore. She was also the director of the Morgan State University Dance Group and also a teacher of Dance at MSU. During the summers, Harrietta taught dance at the Lafayette Square Community Center. She was also a judge for the Dance component of the Baltimore County NAACP ACT-SO Competition. In recent years, Harrietta established a second career as a representative for ACN, the direct sales company that specialized in telecommunications and other essential services for residential and business customers. She was committed to growing her ACN business and enjoyed the entrepreneurial opportunities and travel experiences it provided. Harrietta was a life-long member of the Mt. Winans United Methodist Church, where she faithfully served in various capacities. She directed and taught Youth Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years, sang on the church choirs from her early childhood to adulthood, served as an usher, and produced the weekly church bulletin. Her servant leadership was deeply personified at Mt. Winans and throughout her daily living; she was a member of the United Methodist Women for decades, offering her service on numerous committees. Harrietta became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 1976 in the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter. She later joined Baltimore County Alumnae, where she served on numerous committees and chaired committees, including Arts & Letters and Heritage and Archives. She was a current board member of the Baltimore County Delta Foundation, and in 2020, she served as chairperson of the Foundation's Sixth Annual Stand Down that recognized women in the military. Harrietta was active in several civic and social organizations, including her neighborhood's Hilltop Community Association and the Twenty Women's Club. Her community involvement also included being vice chair of the Memory and Aging Community Advisory Board (MACAB) of Johns Hopkins University. Her advocacy work for awareness about memory loss diseases also engaged her as a volunteer with the HELPLINE at the Greater Maryland Chapter - Alzheimer's Association. Harrietta was also a member of the recently established Highlander women's organization of Baltimore County. She was also a long-time volunteer with the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) in Washington, D.C. Just as she extended herself immensely to her community, she offered even more to her family. Her family was the center of her life and she coveted her roles in it, whether as daughter, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt or cousin. She looked forward to small family gatherings and the larger family reunions. She delighted in preserving historical information about her family's heritage. Harrietta departed this life to begin her Eternal Life on Saturday, October 2, 2021. She was predeceased by her oldest sister, Lucinda P. Wallace (Cindy) and younger brother, Harry Eric Wallace. She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved daughter, Erica Wallace-Jackson Stotts (Gregory); two grandchildren, Gregory Stotts Jr. and Elyssa Stotts; two devoted sisters, Mary Wallace Hewlett, Downingtown, PA., Sharon Wallace Johnson, Baltimore, MD; her life partner, French T.
