OBITUARY Rosalind Veronica Black was born on June 17, 1956, to the Late Neal and Lossie (Baker) Black in Baltimore Maryland. God called her home on Friday, August 27, 2021 at St. Agnes Hospital. Rosalind was affectionately know as Rossie, Diva or Cuz. Rosalind always spoke with much pride about growing up in Cherry Hill. As a preteen she was a member of a traveling dance troupe at the local Recreation center. She was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools and a 1974 graduate of Walbrook High School, a' Walbrook Warrior'. After high school Rosalind pursued higher education at the University of Maryland College Park. There she was a Pearl/Sweetheart to the elite fraternity Omega Psi Phi aka the Ques. Rosalind enjoyed an illustrious career of 34 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where she created lifelong friendships and connections. Rosalind was baptized at an early age at St James Free Baptist Church. She was truly a founding member as the church was founded while she was in her mothers womb. Rosalind was currently a member of the New Revelation Missionary Baptist Church and an amazing organizer and fund raiser. She used her creativity to write plays for every season. Rosalind was a true Missionary at heart. She served and was always willing to help without hesitation. Rosalind loved to drive and she love Church Conventions. She even served as a chauffeur at church conventions. Missionary work happened everywhere for her , even at the Walmart. Rosalind was a faithful Bible study attendee, a member of the executive board for the Winds of Change Ministry, she had a hand in planning events and community outreach. She was with the Women of Wisdom Bible Study since its inception August 2018. Always faithful to 7am prayer & 8pm Bible study. In 1998 Rosalind received her Certificate in Christian Counseling from G.L.A.D.D. (God's Law Against Drunkenness &Drugs) Institution of Nouthetic Counseling. She also sang with the GLADD singers,St James Vocal Choir, the Spiritualettes, and the Harvey Specials. Rosalind was a member of the Prayer Band and was a part of the Prayer Lines in North Carolina, Washington, DC and Maryland during the height of the pandemic. The youngest of five siblings Rosalind was extreamly family oriented. She never missed a family event or birthday and she never met a stranger. She loved people and people loved her. She was also known for giving the best nick names something many of us can vouch for. Rosalind was an encourager and always had a spiritual word for anyone she met. Everything started and ended with prayer. Truly a disciple of Christ. A beautiful soul inside and out. She made a point of always looking her best good; clothes, jewelry, makeup and new hairstyles. After retiring in 2014, Rosalind threw herself into volunteering, serving as an election judge, and dedicating the bulk of her time to church and family. Rosalind was preceded in death by two older sisters Helen Ruth Davis, and Deborah Charlene Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sisters Beverly Black, and Linda Smith, four nieces, Teressa Thaxton, Wanda Gaylord (Jerry) Gina Baker, Minette Smith, three nephews Charles Smith (Danielle), Jerel Lee, Tony Johnson (Shetia); her road buddies Jasper Baker (Barbara) and Lana Shivers; God sister and Best Friend Forever Teresa Perry; great nieces and nephews, twenty four first cousins, and many, many friends who love her dearly. She also leaves her cherished fur baby Stormy Weather Black. Rosalind spread joy, love, and the Word of God during her precious time on earth. She will be deeply missed, but we know we shall meet again. The family thanks everyone for all the love and support during our time of sorrow.
