Obituary of Emma Berlin Thomas

Emma B. Thomas, was born to the late Lucious and Euphenia Teasley on August 25, 1934 in Wade, N. C. After brief illness God called her home on August 30th 2021 while in University of Maryland Hospital. Emma was preceded in death by her mother and father, (Lucious and Euphenia Teasley), 3 brothers, Odell Teasley(Lillian), Lucious Teasley, Jr. (Catherine), and Woodrow Teasley; 4 sisters, Lillie Mae Carroll, Eunice Teasley, Ethel Brown, and Joyce Brown, step mother, Iula Teasley; her Aunt Ethel Pearl and Uncle AddieWorth Brewington became her foster parents. Emma moved to Baltimore in the late 50's and joined St. Joseph Free Will Baptist Church where she had other family members. She worked diligently in the church and sang on the Number two Choir. Her favorite song was "Packing Up Getting Ready To Go". After many years of serving, she preached her Initial Sermon and a few years later was ordained under the leadership of the late Bishop Austin Barnes. Evangelist Thomas continued working in the vineyard for the Lord. She served under the leadership of the Late Overseer Mabel Nettles whom she loved dearly for 35 years. In July, 2008, the Lord lead Evangelist Thomas to New Birth Free Will Baptist Church. She served faithfully until her health began to fail as Associate Minister, President of Pastor's Aide, President of Missionary Ministry, and member of the Gospel Chorus. She also loved to write poetry to share with her family and church. Emma leaves to cherish her memories: 3 sisters, Shirley Murphy (Luther) of Fayetteville, N. C., Maxine Teasley of Bowie, Md., and Sheila Teasley of Fayetteville, NC.; 3 brothers Gilbert (Betty) of Alexandria, Va., Curtis (Kareen) of Dunn, N. C. and Gerry (Vivian) of Wade, N. C.; two brother-in-laws, Pastor George Brown, Jr. of Los Angeles, Ca. and Michael Brown of Fayetteville, N. C.; a special niece Gina (Arvel) Lewis of Ft. Washington, Md.; a dear cousin Estelene Preston, god-son Kevin Robeson, god-daughters, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
