Obituary of Gerlinde Gerda Snowden

Gerlinde G. Snowden, aka "Gigi" in her early years or now known as "G", 76, transitioned on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at her home in Catonsville, MD. Born December 4, 1944, in Bärwalde (Saxon, Germany) to Gustav and Gerda Heymann, and was raised in Berlin, W. Germany. In 1967 she emigrated to the United States and was later naturalized as a United States citizen. "G" had a playful sense of humor and a fond passion for music and animals. Her musical talents included playing the piano, accordion, and clarinet. Having never taken a music lesson, she could pick up any instrument and play it by ear. Her artistic talents also included drawing and painting. Spiritually, she felt connected to nature bringing home and caring for almost any stray animal she encountered. Her favorite job, outside of her devotion as a mother, was as a caretaker at the Berlin Zoo. She loved to travel and experienced almost every corner of the globe throughout her life. She was childlike in her curiosity to learn about other cultures. With a passion to entertain, she loved to cook international and wild-game cuisine, where her creations were scrumptious, especially her desserts. She was an avid skier and an accomplished German Master Hunter (Jägermeister). She leaves behind her son, Gerald "Gerry" Snowden (Corey), her daughter, Grace B. Snowden (Dwayne Nelson), and two grandchildren, Jude and Madolyn Snowden. Family members who predeceased her, include her parents, husband John R. Snowden, and brother Gerd Heymann. Visitation will be held with family and friends on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Vaughn Greene Funeral Home, 8728 Liberty Rd, Randallstown, MD from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 26 at the Bushnell Cemetery in Bushnell, IL. In place of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated in "G's" memory to the National Alliance on Mental Illness - MD http://namimd.org/donate.
