Lillian Spriggs

Obituary of Lillian Delores Spriggs

Lillian D. Spriggs peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 after a lengthy illness, at the age of 67. She was the 4th of 10 children born to the late John T. Johnson and Arie E. Johnson of Roxboro, North Carolina. Lillian was born in Baltimore in 1953 and was a graduate of Edmonson Senior High School in 1973. She married her husband Stanley Spriggs in 1972. She worked as a waitress for White Coffee Pot Family Inns and as a hostess at McDonalds before pursuing her chosen career as a nursing assistant where she worked at Charlestown Retirement Community for 15 years. Because of her interests in helping people, she also volunteered at the Bea Gaddy Family Center. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her son, Maurice. But she was a social butterfly. She loved taking weekend trips with friends, listening to music and dancing, and she also enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents: John T. and Arie E. Johnson, and four siblings: James L. Johnson, Sr., Ellen E. Burton, Wanda L. Johnson, and Letitia Y. Johnson. She is survived by her husband Stanley Spriggs and son, Maurice Spriggs. In addition, survivors include her four sisters: Esther B. Grate of Newport News, Virginia, Robin A. Moore, Jill R. Johnson and Jackie Hector all of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother: Gary L. Johnson, Sr. of Baltimore, Maryland; three sisters-in-law: Elaine Hopewell, Maxine Johnson and Dorothea Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends, and her cherished Chihuahua, Winnie.
