Obituary of Carolyn Ann Carter
Carolyn Ann Carter was born on July 1, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late James Patterson and Eddie Mae Patterson. Carolyn was one of seven children. Carolyn departed this life on Thursday, June 10, 2021.
Carolyn received her education through the Pittsburgh Public School system and graduated from Schenley in 1963. She also attended: OIC (Opportunities Industrialization Center) and The Wheeler Business School.
Carolyn married Ralph Carter on August 20, 1965 and they had one daughter Michelle Nefertiti Carter. Carolyn loved being a devoted mother. Carolyn and Ralph remained devoted parents and friends after their divorce.
Carolyn was a hard worker, who did not mind working two jobs at a time. She worked at The Angelus Convalescent
Center for over 35 years and The Salvation Army for over 20 years.
Carolyn loved being around her family and friends. She had a daily call with her niece, the late Lorae Graham and
Carolyn enjoyed lunch and Wednesday talks with her great-niece Shanema Graham. She was also planning a
Kiddie Palooza party in August for the 'next generation' of kids in the family. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. Carolyn eagerly looked forward to spreading joy to all her family at Christmastime.
Carolyn's favorite past times were shopping, playing bingo, playing spades, working puzzles, watching the game show network and Court TV. Steve Harvey was her absolute favorite TV host. She also enjoyed watching most sports.
Carolyn was a mega football fan and a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. You could catch Carolyn dressed in her Steelers attire from head to toe on any given Sunday. Most of all Carolyn enjoyed traveling to see new places. She
took trips to 21 different cities in the United States and she also traveled out of the country to the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Canada.
She leaves to cherish her memories forever: one daughter, Michelle Carter; one granddaughter Jazmine Howard; one brother, Raymond Patterson, six nieces, Vernetta Riggans (Darrel), Danelle Vaughn (William), Terri Collins, Tenia Graham, Jevah Giles, Elaina Patterson; three nephews Donald Graham (Barbara), Harrison Graham, Martell
Graham; a host of great grand nieces and nephews; and longtime friends Paulette "Cherry" James, Donna Howard and Donna James.
