He was born January 13, 1934 in Greenville, SC to Lillie Mae and Wade Eugene Hatton, Sr. The family lived in various locations including Washington, DC, Amissville, VA, and settled in Baltimore, Maryland. At the age of 19, Clarence enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 11th Airborne Unit in Fort Campbell, Kentucky during the Korean War era. After working in various barbershops Clarence became a "Master Barber". During this time he was always committed to providing work opportunities to the youth and young men in the community; to providing services to various nursing homes by giving patients haircuts or shaving them. Clarence was a true man of faith, serving faithfully first at Bible Way Gold St. under the Bishop Kato Pierson and later at First Apostolic Faith Church under Apostle Cornelius Showell. In July, 1957 Clarence Hatton was ordained a deacon at the First Convocation of the Bible Way Churches Worldwide under the leadership of Apostle Smallwood E. Williams. Throughout his church life Deacon has served in multiple capacities including Chairman of the Deacons, Deaconesses and Trustees Board, Sunday School teacher, and on the Greeters and Communion Committees. He served for fourteen years as the National President of the Deacons and Deaconesses Fellowship of the International Bible Way Church. Clarence leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Ernestine Hatton; one daughter, Sharon Willis (Shelby); one son, Kevin Hatton (Dr. Toni); five grandchildren: Chalet Willis Butts (Lanse); Kevin Hatton II, Kristen Hatton, Kristopher Hatton and Karrington Hatton; one great-granddaughter, Laila Butts; two surviving siblings: Dennis Hatton (Darlene), Gloria Evans (Lawrence); several brothers and sisters-in law: Janie Jones, Louise Jones (Robert), Ben Teasdel (Victoria), Raymond Teasdell (Curlie), Juanita McTeer (James), Edward Teasdell (Shirley); Jeanette Hatton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
