Obituary of Cathy Christine Powell

Cathy Powell, age 64, of Baltimore, MD, transitioned on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in Baltimore, MD. Ms. Powell was born on February 26, 1957, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Cathy was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools, was a proud graduate of Northwestern High School, and furthered her education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and University of Baltimore where she earned her Bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing Specialization. She grew up with her younger brother and sister on Newington Avenue in Reservoir Hill. Cathy was a dedicated employee for the City government (a little over 38 years) as a Public Information Officer. She enjoyed her job and was planning for her upcoming retirement. Writing and planning events was her forte. On December 11, 2014, Cathy published an eBook on helping those who are dealing with grief and loss which also helped her cope with the loss of her baby sister Vickie. Her favorite book regarding grief is by Eben Alexander "Proof of Heaven." On Friday, May 28, 2021, services for Ms. Powell will be held at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 4905 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 - 2:30PM with services to follow. The interment will take place privately.
