Here I was filling out an application for teaching and remembered my cooperating teaching Leoncine Hennis. I’m so shocked to learn this and very saddened. She was an excellent teacher and I learned so much from her. May she rest in peace.

God looked around his garden and found an empty space. Then he looked down up the earth and saw your face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful. He only takes the best ~ Love you Lennie ~ Aunty BB

To My Niece Lennie, You were a very special person. If only I had the chance to see your face once more or hear your voice one final time. Like an eternal flame your memory will live in my heart forever. It will walk with me throughout my life - until we meet again. Oh, how I wish God would have spared you, just for a few more years. Your vacant place, no one can fill. I love you now and always will, so rest in peace my dearest Lennie. Thank you for all you’ve done. I pray that God has given you the crown you have truly won. Love ~ your Aunty Audrey.

I smile every time I say your name because I now pronounce it “LeÓncine” emphasis on the “on” as you so eloquently corrected everyone to say. You were so particular and specific about many things, and this, I came to appreciate and love about you. It made you a great you. It made you a great cousin, a great teacher, and a great sources of information. I appreciated the advice you gave, whether we spoke about our college experiences, schools for my son or our hair products and hair regimens. I saw you just 3 weeks ago and I would not have imagined that would be the last time I saw you. Your physical body is gone, but your spirit will forever live on in our hearts and minds. I hope you are at peace and in bliss in the next life. Rest in Love ~ your cousin Audrea

My sweet cousin Leoncine, what can I say?
Memories is all I have now.
Our conversations on the telephone, at time were frequent and then we all get busy, life we say…
Our conversations were few, but every time we spoke, it’s like time never passed.
You always had a good word to say, you always gave me encouraging words, especially during my days of job hunting or at moments when I didn’t know what to do.
So thank you, thank you for selflessness, thank you for our time together.
I will always remember you.
Love Bernicia

My dearest cousin, Leoncine upon hearing the news of your passing, I was in shock.
No one expected this.
Even though in life, we know death is inevitable, when it comes to our front door, especially in unexpected moments like this, we are left in despair.
So to not cry, I think about our few times together.
I remember your summer visits when you, Marsha and Joseph came to Anguilla
I was probably about 8, 9 or 10 years old.
You always lent a helping hand. Things had to be done a particular way to your liking.
Fast forward to my pregnancy, when I came to DC in 2005 you came over to visit me.
You checked on me. We all went shopping together - You, Bern, Audrea and I. You always ensured we got the best deals! Always ready with those coupons! Waiting for our change …even if it’s just a penny.
We haven’t seen each other in a long time, but I appreciated you.
Sleep on my dearest cousin, sleep on … until we meet again.
Your cousin Felicia
