Obituary of James Anthony Bowman
In my house there are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for l go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:3
James Anthony Bowman, son of John and Loretta Jennings, was born on April 21, 1959. He received his heavenly wings on Resurrection Sunday, April 4, 2021. What a glorious day to leave this earth to go be with our Heavenly Father!!!
James completed his education at Baltimore City College. After graduation, he decided to join the United States Marine Corp. Over the next four years, he performed his military duties with distinction and received an honorable discharge in July, 1981. After leaving the military, James begin to settle into civilian life. He loved being a father to his two sons Anthony and Antwon He also enjoyed spending and having fun time with his grandchildren.
In 1983, he took a job with Adell Plastics where he worked as a machine operator until his passing. He also established a special friendship with many of the co-workers there.
James was affectionately called "Antpay" by his family members and "Rock" by his close friends. Some will say the name "Rock" referenced his hard head while other would say it was because he was large in statue but had a humbling and caring personality. James was the middle child who always managed to get all the attention, especially from our mother. James was generally quiet and mostly stayed to himself but often played pranks on his loved ones. He also loved to experiment with cooking and tried his new concoction out on members of his family. If they ate it he would gleam with joy but if they pushed it to the side, in the trash it would go. James was a gentle teddy bear. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as working, enjoying the company of friends and taking care of his family. During his free time, he would call or visit to make sure everyone was okay. He was also an avid sports junky especially during football season. He loved to watch his Ravens team win! His smile, laughter, love and practical jokes will be sorely missed by family members, friends and co-workers.
James' parents (John & Loretta Jennings), sister (Rosalind Bowman) and brother (Luther Jennings) all proceeded him in death. He leaves many memories for his family to cherish and carry on his legacy: sons: James Anthony Bowman (Carrie Bowman) and Antwon Bowman, brother: John Edward Bowman (Janice Bowman), sisters: Brenda Hines (Charles Hines), Loretta Holmes and Lisa Jennings, a devoted companion Yvonne Gill, grandchildren: Brielle, Daquan, Tayshawn, Anthony, Giovanni, Brooklyn, Denijah, Damari, Dymaya, Jacquez, Shamell, Za'Niya, Tanilah, and Antwon, aunts: Dora Jennings and Shirley Frederick and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends.
