Obituary of Gracie Bell Moore

Gracie Bell Moore, née McDaniel passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021 after a two month illness and brief period at seasons Hospice & Palliative Care. Gracie was born on June 30, 1926 in Fairfield County, Winnsboro, South Carolina; the daughter of the late Henry McDaniel and Mary Janie McDaniel, née Douglas. She was the fourth of five children (Celes, John Henry& Willie (deceased), Gracie and Florence, (deceased). She was educated in Fairfield County Public Schools, graduating from high school in 1948. She came to Baltimore August 1, 1950. She met James Moore in 1950, also from South Carolina. They were joined in Holy Matrimony in 1952, from this union four daughters were born, Doris A., Alice D., Gracie M., and Fay P. Gracie was a fulltime homemaker until her youngest child began kindergarten to ensure that she was providing a sound foundation and loving home, a priority for her four girls. She held education and independence as very important qualities to strive for to obtain success in life. She along with her husband devoted their life to family, understanding that it was very important to provide stability and a religious base for good morals and judgment, but most importantly to be there to provide guidance for her girls in their younger years. She left this life with the knowledge that she was successful in completing the goal that she held so dear. Gracie grew up in the Baptist church while in South Carolina. Once she married James, who hailed from a long line of Presbyterian ministers, she joined Trinity Presbyterian Church in 1967 with James and the four girls in tow. Her love for God was evident by the life she lived. She was devoted to her church serving in many capacities. She taught Sunday School for 18 years at Trinity Presbyterian Church, retiring in 1978. She served two terms on the Deacon Board, was a member of the outreach program & Food Pantry, Presbyterian Women, Flower Guild and Repast Team. She continued to serve on the Food Pantry, Flower Guild and Repast Team until her health would not allow her to attend church on a regular basis. Gracie received awards recognizing her outstanding service as a Deacon and continuous service to the Walbrook Vicinity Churches Assistants Ministries, Incorporated. Gracie is survived by her four daughters, six grandchildren, Walter Cole Jr. (Sucharitha), Osiris, Curtis Murray (Carey), Tanya Cain (Jermaine), Luther McLean, Adrianne Greene, Ahmad Lofton; two sons in-law (Paul and Eddie) ten great grandchildren, Kiara Cain, Jordan Lofton, Jermaine Cain Jr., Isabelle Murray, Londyn Lofton, Jaya Cain, Jaxzon Murray, Logan Lofton, Emet Cole and Wyllow Lofton, a host of nieces and nephews and other beloved family and friends. Calling hours will be Monday, March 29, 2021 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD. (21133) On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Services for Mrs. Moore, will be held at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD (21133) at 10:00AM. The interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Gwynn Oak immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the name of Gracie Moore can be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.
