Obituary of Irene Wilson

Irene Wilson of Baltimore, MD was born on June 24, 1920 to the late John and Rachel Hedgeman. She peacefully left this earth on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 after a Blessed life of nearly 101 years. After receiving her formal education from the Buckingham School System, Irene moved to Baltimore, MD, where she began her career with the Maryland School System. There she worked with hearing impaired children until the time of her retirement. Irene was married to the late George Jackson and then to the late Kenneth Wilson. From these unions came Joyce, Kevin, Karen and step-daughter Cheryl. As a youth, Irene joined Ridgeway Baptist Church, and after moving to Baltimore, united with the New Antioch Baptist Church - where she remained a faithful member until her passing. As age limited her ability to care for herself, Irene lived in her home under the watchful care of her loving and devoted son Kevin. Irene was preceded in death by her husbands and twelve of her thirteen siblings; also, special friends Ruth Smith, Janie Johnson and Kittie Townson. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Joyce Wright, Kevin Wilson and Karen Matthews (David) and step-daughter Cheryl Grice; grandchildren Christa, Michele, Mya and Sean; great-grandchildren Monique, Sharese, Nia, Myles, Marques, Taylor, Abbie, Tysean, Sysqo, Di Angelo and Rayne; great-great grandchildren Tahlia, Riayn and Trinity; one brother, Reverend Curtis Hedgemen (Ruby) of Scottsville, VA; sisters-in-law Olivia Hedgeman and Cornelia Hedgeman-Gray; and a host of other relatives and friends. She remembered her special friends Nannie Woodson, Joyce Hyde, Mattie Barrett, Lillie James, Maxine Battle and Crystal Woods. The family has chosen to have an intimate, private service.
