Purnell Coleman

Obituary of Purnell Randolph Coleman

Purnell Randolph Coleman was born October 28, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland and was called to glory on January 17, 2021. Purnell accepted Christ at an early age which was evident in his character, conduct and conversations. In his younger years, he enjoyed singing on the choir as a member of Simmons Memorial Baptist Church. Purnell attended Baltimore City public schools and graduated from City College High School. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force where he served for 22 years. In his first year serving our country, he married Mary Harrison and from this union four children were born. Obtaining his Associates Degree in Criminology was another great accomplishment for Purnell. Purnell was kind, loving, a great listener and always shared his wisdom with everyone he interacted with. His big, pleasant smile and how he called us "Babe" will always be a lasting memory to make us smile. He loved dancing, laughing, watching Jeopardy, and spending time with family and friends. He built strong friendships and enjoyed the customer interactions while working at the Home Depot in Eldersburg, Maryland. He leaves to cherish his memory: his son Aaron Coleman (Andrea); his daughters Alicia Coleman and Ashli Moore (Lovell); five grandchildren: Cherelle, Kiawna, Vaughn, Chanel, and Aliana; his sisters Deanna Pridgen and Evangeline McCoy; and his sister-in-law Carolyn Hines. Preceding him in death: his parents, son Alexis Coleman and brother Fulton Hines. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. "You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." Psalms 16:11 On Saturday, February 13th a Graveside Service will be held at the Druid Ridge Cemetery where the family will receive friends at 11:00AM.
