Obituary of Marjorie Mae Holmes

As the sunset on January 25, 2021, Marjorie Mae Holmes, slipped away after a long illness to answer a heavenly calling. Marjorie was born March 8, 1938, in Hartsville, South Carolina to the late Cleveland Sr. and Pearlie Mae Marine. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and attended Ebenezer Baptist Church of Baltimore, MD. She received her formal education in the public schools of Baltimore, graduating from Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, the late Robert Holmes Sr. in 1956. From this union, they were blessed with four children, Rhonda Mason who preceded her in death, Bobby, Sandy and Cooky. She was a dedicated wife and mother, who enjoyed traveling as a military wife. They eventually settled in Baltimore to raise their family. As a professional seamstress, she enjoyed creating fashion for her family, friends and anyone that would ask. She worked various jobs all related to her passion of sewing. Her children were her first priority, so you would find her either at the neighborhood baseball field or leading her daughters' girl scout troop. Marjorie was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star. You would always find her singing a gospel tune or reading a book, especially the Bible. She leaves to cherish her memory: One son, Robert N. Holmes Jr., two daughters and sons-in-law, Casandra and Raymond Hale, Rosezene and Michael Webster, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, four brothers, one sister, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
