Obituary Pauline Franzina Tillery Brogden, beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Tillery, was born November 28, 1941 and departed this life on January 21, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Pauline received her education in the Baltimore city public school system. She later went to Victor Business school and graduated with a certificate in data processing. She married the late Samuel E. Brogden in 1959 and from this union 4 children were born, Denise, Donna, Margaret, and Sean. Pauline worked hard to raise her children while living in the south Baltimore community of Cherry Hill. She taught her children that they were to be strong, determined, and confident. She gave them strong family roots and a belief in God as their foundation in life. Pauline had many jobs, such as data processing, domestic engineer, and salesperson. In 1968, she was offered a job with the Maryland Department of Social Services (DSS) as an aide in the adoption unit. During her tenure with DSS she worked her way up the career ladder and was promoted to Social Worker Associate. Pauline was affiliated with One Church-One Child and the Black Adoption Network as part of her work for the Department of Social Services. Pauline received many awards for being an outstanding employee and retired in 2006 after 38 years of service. Pauline received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior in 1984 at New Psalmist Baptist Church where she also attended discipleship and leadership school. Pauline was a faithful and active usher and held the position as 2nd vice president of the female usher board and later became the president of the female usher board, a position she held for 15 years. Pauline trained ushers in other churches in Baltimore city and Prince George's County. Pauline was raised in a loving home where her fondest memories were the family gatherings at her grandmother's house. She passed this passion on when raising her four children. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Pauline experienced renal failure and began dialysis, after her retirement. She was on dialysis for over 14 years and was the patient advocate mentor for the Kidney Foundation of Baltimore, Maryland. Pauline was a warrior and survivor. She battled COPD and conquered breast cancer. Her ailments did not discourage her but instead encouraged her to remain steadfast in her faith and conviction that God is the ultimate healer. She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Thomas and Herbert Tillery and sister Loretta Coleman. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Denise Brogden, Donna Gilmore, Margaret Brogden and Sean Brogden; 4 granddaughters: Dawnita (David) Jackson, Mallori (Michael) Montgomery, Ashley (Kenneth) Marsh, and Jalisa Brogden; 3 grandsons: Cornell Gilmore II, Malik Brogden and Shemar Brogden; 4 great granddaughters: Lillian, Shawna, Anastasia and Melanie; 3 Great Grandsons: Cornell 3rd, Jordan and Jayden and a host of other relatives and friends.
