Obituary of David Allen Jones

David Allen Jones beloved and devoted son, father, grandfather, and brother was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 30, 1950 he was the first child of Alma Jones and the late David Lamma. God called David home to rest after a struggle with cancer on December 31, 2020. David was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1968 where he played basketball, football, and baseball. David was an avid sportsman and his love was basketball. David was a founder and original member of the "Cuttys". David along with his brother Reggie, and friends formed a group of ballplayers from all over Baltimore called the Cuttys. They played basketball throughout the city and counties stacking trophies and championships in the Rec leagues. If there was a full court in the gym or outdoors along with stiff competition the Cuttys were there. David began working early as a teenager having several jobs, part and full time from delivering newspapers and even at one point a cab driver then as an adult he was employed at Bethlehem Steel working over 25 years at Sparrows Point before retiring. He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories: two children David Jones and Shawan Kelly; step-child Emily Bigelow; daughter-in-law Marie Jones; son-in-law Lamont Kelly; three grandchildren Morgan Jones, Jazmyne S. Kelly, and Ryann Kelly; mother Alma Rowlette-Jenkins; sister Sabrina Rowlette; two brothers Reginald Jones and Frank Rowlette; three sisters-in-law Stephanie Jones, Donna Rowlette, and the late Appedella M. Jones; late brother-in-law Leroy A. Campbell and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Viewing hours will be Thursday, January 14th from 4:00 pm until 7:00pm at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 5151 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD
