A Life Well Lived CONNIE LEVETTE ROUNDTREE MCGEE was the beloved first-born child of the late Mattie & Charles. Roundtree, Sr. Her birth was on May 07, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland where she lived most of her life. In her early years, Connie became a Baptized Christian at Zion Baptist Church, Baltimore MD. There she began her development of lifelong friendships, from her time as a Girl Scout, to her later years as a senior dancer with the ZBC Saints in Motion Dance Ministry. Connie was married to the late Melvin McGee in October,1984 until he passed in April 2019. Although Connie had no biological children, she embraced many children as her own and gained countless golden relationships. Connie went Home to dance with joy into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on November 19, 2020. Connie's education experiences were enriched because of her involvement in various social associations. As she became of age, Connie formed a friendship alliance with the all boy, Baltimore City High School "on the Hill". The alliance established their own fraternity/sorority," The Oops" and "The Imps", where they enjoyed their own style of fun and festive activities. Later in life, Connie would attend some classes at Loyola College and Morgan State University to enhance her professional skills. Connie joined the United States Navy 1969-1972, earning an Honorable Discharge. She was trained as a Computer Operator at Norfolk Station Naval Base and cemented her career in the government. Including her time in the military, Connie served over 50 years in the United States Government until her Retirement in 2003. Her employment included The US Veterans Affairs, Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA), Center for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) and The Social Security Administration. Connie was described as knowledgeable, fun loving, elegant, loved expressive dancing, traveler, a giver, fierce, enjoyed making people happy, and a serious business-minded person. Some of her extracurricular group activities: Vacation Bible School, camping, archery, tap dance, belly dance, hand dance, tennis club, gardening and Employee Activities Association. Her favorite hobby was dancing, and her best vacation was Hawaii. She held several officer positions in most of the organizations she joined. Throughout her life journey, Connie gained, and maintained relationships with family, relatives and friends to share her spirit of generosity, support, group fun and enduring love. REFLECTION OF CONNIE IN HER OWN WORDS: "My family and friends were the center of my life. I was kind, fun-loving and loyal. I strived to be a strong African American woman. I loved deeply. I believe in God". Connie was dedicated to her family and friends; and she served her country with spirit filled honor and grace. Farewell sweet Connie, until we meet again in the Heavenly by and by.
