Obituary of Joyce Ann Dorsey

Joyce Ann Dorsey, daughter of the late Catherine and Walter Saunders was born on February 12, 1941. Joyce received her education in Baltimore City Public Schools. She was the first class of black girls allowed to attend Eastern High School. On December 31, 1962 she married Avon Dorsey Sr. Joyce had various forms of employment, but lastly worked as a rental agent. She loved to make crafts and floral arrangements and garden. Also, she enjoyed cooking her signature foods: soups, rice pudding and sweet potato pudding. Joyce accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and attended Colonial Baptist Church. She always went to length to praise Jesus Christ; there were daily prayer cards and bible verses posted all around her house. She always kept a running list of people to pray for. Her husband proceeded her in death in 2012. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter (Josette), son-in-law (Daniel), son Avon Jr., granddaughters Danielle and Candace, sister-in-law Katherine Bacon, brother-in-law Calvin Dorsey and host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Viewing hours will be Thursday, November 19th from 4:00 pm until 7:00pm at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 5151 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD. A Graveside service will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Gwynn Oak, MD on Friday, November 20th at 11:00 am.
