Obituary of Thomas Richard Dailey

A Time to Live: Born on October 20, 1925, Thomas Richard Dailey was the third oldest of ten children born to Mary Dailey. Born and raised in Hanover, MD, he received his education in the Anne Arundel County public school system. Thomas attended and was baptized at St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Thomas enlisted in the U.S. Navy at sixteen. After serving in WWII, he was honorably discharged. He earned several commendation medals for his military service – including a Purple Heart. Thomas worked several odd jobs before settling in the construction field. He became a master tradesman with Whiting-Turner Construction, where he worked on several key construction sites like the State Office Building, the Baltimore Convention Center, and what is now the Towson Town Center, before retiring in 1989. Thomas was a kind and gentle man who made friends where ever he went. He loved the family's Memorial Day cook-outs where he dared anyone to touch his grill. He enjoyed watching old westerns like Gun Smoke and the Big Valley. Thomas also loved sports and never missed a Ravens or Orioles game. He was active and energetic and took daily walks around the neighborhood before his sight began to fail. A Time to Love: In 1967, Thomas met and later married Ruby Lee Jones – a single mother. They were married for 42 years and loved to travel. They went to Cancun, the Bahamas and Canada. Thomas was a loving and devoted husband and father. A Time to Mourn: On the afternoon of October 6, 2020, Thomas departed this life peacefully at home.
