Obituary of Toney L. Dorsey

Toney L. Dorsey was born on January 30, 1945 to the late Lucius and Nancy M. Dorsey. Toney departed this life at Franklin Square Hospital on September 8, 2020 following a lengthy illness. Toney was educated in Baltimore City schools at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School, Clifton Park Junior High School, Baltimore City College and Dunbar High School. He was an avid reader and a champion of education. Toney married his devoted wife, Leola Jones at St. Ann's Catholic Church on June 21, 1969. They shared fifty-one years of marriage. From this union, three children were born. Proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged in 1970. Toney was employed by the federal government for more than thirty years before retiring in 1997. A viewing will be held on September 22, 2020 at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 4905 York Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21212 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held on September 23, 2020 at Zion Baptist Church, 1700 North Caroline Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21213. The wake will begin at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 10:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Defenders of Animals Rights, Inc.
