Obituary of Barbara Carol Lewis

Barbara Carol Lewis was born on May 28, 1948 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to James "Jimmy" Douglas and Margaret Freeman. She joins her loving husband, Robert Lee Lewis Jr. and is survived by her two children, Clayton James Bolling (Elena Bolling) and Erika Elizabeth Lewis (Ashleigh Menzies-Lewis). Barbara was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Shaina, Corey, Caleb, Cameron, Cyleigh and Claire and 4 great grandchildren: Annalise, Kai, Kori, and Kamari. Barbara also opened her heart to a host of extended grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barbara dedicated her life to helping others and giving selflessly to those in need and did so with a joyful heart. She was heavily involved in her church home, Celebration Church, and lead, as well as, participated in many ministries. While serving on the signing ministry, Barbara mastered the skills of American Sign Language. She looked forward to each Sunday service where she would sign alongside the praise and worship team. Barbara stayed busy, constantly lending a helping hand to friends, neighbors and members of her church. Whether she was just stopping by for a visit or talking on the phone for hours, her kindness knew no bounds. Barbara was always willing to lend an empathetic ear or be the voice of reason to anyone who needed it. She enjoyed watching British mysteries, black & white movies and the occasional procedural on television with friends and family. Barbara will be dearly missed by all those she touched as a mother, friend and mentor. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and how her laughter would fill a room. We take solace in knowing she is in a better place and that she will always be in our hearts. We were all truly blessed to have known her and to have felt her love.
