Obituary of Elaine Teresa Whitaker

Elaine Teresa Whitaker, age 73, of Eldersburg, transitioned Friday, October 9, 2020. Ms. Whitaker was born September 5, 1947. Elaine was born in Camden, South Carolina to Mr. & Mrs. Thomas and Elizabeth Whitaker. She graduated from Boylan Haven Mather Academy in Camden and went on to Hampton University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. She received her Master's in Education from Cleveland State University. Elaine taught Art to middle schoolers for 30 years in the Cleveland, Ohio school system. Upon retirement, Elaine moved to Owings Mills, Maryland to be closer to family and she lived there for the past 15 years. Elaine loved animals and cats were her favorite. Her cat Sophie was her companion for the past 6 years. Elaine enjoyed a variety of music, especially Jazz and she frequented Jazz Festivals when they were available. She enjoyed shopping and lunches with her sister Cheryl on Saturdays. Elaine was an art collector, especially outdoor landscapes which she loved. Elaine is survived by her sister Cheryl Sessomes, her brother-in-law Morris Sessomes, her Nephew Kyle and his wife Jennifer and their son Ethan Sessomes, as well as other family members and friends.
