My sincere condolences to the family of Sis. Alease Howell. The hearts of many members of First Charity Baptist Church are truly sadden by the loss of such a kind and loving lady. And, Indeed “A Lady”...she was always! She was just as beautiful on the inside as she always appeared on the outside. She was diligent, poised, respectful and kind at all times. I will always miss her presence and her beautiful smile but will never forget the sincere love she shared with everyone at First Charity. May God continue to bless you all as you forever cherish her loving memories.

There are so so many wonderful memories and lessons my aunt leaves behind. Aunt Alease was one of a kind. Gentle yet strong, loving yet straight forth. Always able to put a wonderful twist on a situation that seemed unbearable and hopeless. Just one or two lessons I will mention. How can we ever forget the night before Youth Day at Charity. We would come early in the morning while it was still dark to cook, clean, and prepare for Youth Day. We’d often spend the night at her house and get hauled down the church in the wee hours of the morning. Youth Day was the biggest event in our young lives. I was the designated chicken fryer. We hopped from singing to cooking and cleaning. Working with Alease in the kitchen Saturdays and Sundays was so much fun. She kept us laughing and working. What about tarrying service? Alease was among the saints that had use calling on the name of Jesus—getting purged. We were young, but I do believe the Holy Ghost was in us even at a very young age. We too felt the spirit and even today it still lives in us. Trips down south, time she spent with my mom and dad—I cannot remember a time that Aunt Alease was not present in my life. We thank God for her presence, guidance, love, chastisement, wisdom all while being the life of the party!! We will not forget you. Love Areh.

Aunt Alease you will truly be missed. Remembering the times you come to NC and just seeing you enjoying yourself with family Always carrying a smile. But most of all enjoying the meal that would be cooked and the time you and ma (Sebeirta) uncle John sister would spend together even after his call home. You lived a very blessed 95 years, take up your wings and RIH. Sandra.
