Obituary of Paul Richard Scroggins

Paul Richard Scroggins, the son of Helen Scroggins and the late Abraham Pinnacle, born February 23, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland died suddenly on September 11, 2020. He was 72 years old. Paul graduated from Carver Vocational School, where he studied carpentry. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Susie. Susie changed his outlook on life and taught him about Jehovah. Paul's love for Jehovah, and Susie, moved him to symbolize his dedication by water baptism on May 10, 1990. His zeal and love for the Truth and Jehovah did not stop there. Paul served as a Ministerial Servant for many years, most recently in the North Randallstown Congregation. Before, his death he was serving as an auxiliary pioneer. Paul loved music, especially the Temptations and Motown. He also loved sports, and "bled purple" every football season. He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Colts. When he was a child, he would skip school to sell peanuts at Colts games. Paul was a fun loving, jokester with an infectious personality who always had a story, a quick smile or a laugh to brighten your day. He never met a sweets table that he did not like and when no one was watching, he would sneak all of the Pepsi he could, knowing he would pay for it all later when his daughter Nickole found out. Nickole affectionately called Paul "Bups". When he couldn't get his way, he playfully told anyone who would listen that Nickole wasn't "treating him right" and in-turn Nickole would playfully say, "Bups, I am putting you up for adoption!" Their love for each other was undeniable. He was thoughtful and caring, always buying little surprise gifts and writing notes to lift her day. Paul's presence will be missed. Paul is survived by: his mother, Helen Scroggins Burgess; two sons, Paul Jr. and Marcus (Melvina); daughter, Nickole; sisters, Tanya Brown (Jerome); Mary Dowdy; and Charlene Easter (Cedric); brothers, Wayne Burgess (Lisa); Warren Burgess (Phyllis);Charles Burgess; George Felder (Geraldine); spiritual daughter, Shaina Brock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his brother Michael Burgess. Viewing hours for Mr. Paul R. Scroggins will be held Tuesday, September 22nd from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 5151 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD. The interment (private for family only) will take place at King Memorial Park, on Tuesday, September 22nd following the viewing.
