Obituary of Catherine Barbara Johnson

Catherine Barbara Johnson, affectionately known as Cathy, was born November 1, 1955 in Baltimore, MD to Melvina Jones who preceded her in death. Mrs. Johnson transitioned from this life on Saturday, June 27, 2020, in Johns Hopkins Medical Center. She was raised in East Baltimore by Katherine and Clarence Bean. Catherine was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Eastern High School in 1973. She attended what is now Morgan State University, majoring in Early Childhood Education. Her training and her inherent ability was evident as she nutured so many children and adults. Cathy was employed early in life at the Social Security Administration during her high school and college years. She was later employed for 19 years with Sears Services Center. She also worked at the YWCA Family and Children's Society, a shelter for women and children in Arbutus. The travel business was her career and her ministry. She loved planning trips and as a result, she and her husband opened Angels Tours. She was also the proprietor of Angel's Palace. Cathy eventually started working at A S Midway Tours as a senior consultant. There, agents and clients with whom she interacted highly respected her professionalism and outgoing personality. A viewing will be held Monday, July 6, 2020, at Vaughn Greene Funeral Services - East 4905 York Road, Baltimore, MD (21212) from 2:30 PM until 6:00 PM. A celebration of life will take place 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Israel Baptist Church 1200 Washington Street, Baltimore, MD (21213).The wake will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will immediately follow services in Parkwood Cemetery.
