Shareef Ali-Barnett

Obituary of Shareef Raekwon Ali-Barnett

Shareef R. Ali-Barnett was born in Norwalk, CT on January 23, 1996. Shortly after, he moved to Baltimore County Maryland where he spent his childhood. Shareef excelled as an athlete running track, playing football and lacrosse which turned out to be his passion. He played Lacrosse on travel teams and for his high schools Randallstown High and Our Lady of Mount Carmel where he graduated in 2004. His tenacity for lacrosse earned him a scholarship to Hood College which fulfilled one of his dreams. Shareef left Hood College to join the military and had the honor of serving our country in Iraq as a surgical technician. He loved the operating room and witnessing first hand medical procedures. After his separation from the Army in 2019, he pursued positions in the medical field and planned to continue his education to become a nurse because that's where you really get to help patients. Shareef, throughout his life, was known as the animal whisperer. He loved all animals and they loved him as his kindness radiated brightly. Not only was he kind to animals, but this also extended to people. At the age of 2 he got the nick name, "The Ambassador of Goodwill" from his teacher. He loved to help people and always wanted to make them feel better regardless of whether you were his best friend or a new acquaintance. Shareef loved his family and friends and they knew they could always count on him to be there. Shareef was called home on June 14, 2020 in Texas.
