Obituary of Lucy Jane Jones

Mrs. Lucy Jane Jones, age 94, of Baltimore, transitioned Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Mrs. Jones was born February 22, 1926 in Dillon, South Carolina. A public viewing for Mrs. Jones will be held Monday, June 8, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD (21133). The interment will take place at King Memorial Park in Windsor Mill, MD immediately following the viewing Monday, June 8, 2020. OBITUARY Lucy was born February 22, 1926 in the small town of Dillion, SC to the late George Lee Townsend and Anna Lee MaCrae Townsend. She was the youngest of four children James, Mammie, and Maggie. Lucy shared an extra special bond with her older sister Maggie Lee Jones. Although only five years apart Lucy would often credit her big sister Maggie with assuming the mother role and helping raise her because their mother passed when Lucy was just a baby. Lucy spent all of her childhood and some of her young adult years in South Carolina. She received her education in South Carolina Public Schools. Lucy married the love of her life Richard Ulysses Jones, September 10, 1949 and dedicated her life to be a loving wife and homemaker. They later moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1962 where she remained until her death. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Richard Ulysses Jones Sr. (1989), sisters Mammie Townsend and Maggie Lee Jones, brother James Townsend, three sons, Johnny, Terry, and Timothy Jones. Lucy leaves to mourn two sons Richard Jones (Linda), Robert Lee Jones, four daughters Jeanette Meadows, Annette Jones, Anna Lee Jones, Angelnet Roberson, several generations of grandchildren (many who she helped raise), a host of nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends who were blessed to experience her love and will deeply miss her.
