Lady Anna Holloway

Obituary of Lady Anna Lee Holloway

Anna Lee Holloway (Spencer) was born on March 3, 1940 to Ernest and Connie Spencer in Dunn, North Carolina. On May 27, 2020 after a short stay at the Post-Acute Care Nursing Facility, Anna was carried home to rest in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Although we may mourn, we can find comfort in knowing she was tired and ready to go home.

As a child until many years later, Anna was affectionately known by family and friends as Tommie. Occasionally, as a gentle joke and fun time between her and her husband, he would call her Tommie and she with a smile or laughter would answer. As a young woman, Anna enjoyed life, and was often the bell of the ball and a Social Butterfly known by many.

At age 14, she captured the heart of a young man at her birthday party, not knowing at that time, he would in a few years become the love of her life. Anna received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System and often would share her experiences as a student of Dunbar High School.

On May 20, 1956, Anna married the man who became the love of her life, Wilmer G. Holloway. They married for 62 years. A young marriage that would see many ups and downs; but together with God's help they would weather the storm and become an example to many that God is a keeper and the only thing that separated them was death.

Lady Anna supported her husband in ministry. While in bible school studying various ministries with other pastors, he informed her that the Lord was calling him into full-time ministry. Anna was willing to support him in this sacrificial decision to ensure her husband was obedient to the call of God. Lady Anna loved and supported her husband in ministry, in sickness and until his death in 2019.

Lady Anna fulfilled her mission as a Sunday School Teacher as well as a Good News Club Teacher. She enjoyed teaching children and telling them about the love of Jesus. Anna won many to Jesus Christ at an early age.

Lady Anna loved the ministry that she and her husband started in 1975, The New Tabernacle Baptist Church. Anna enjoyed the women's fellowships and the time she shared with each lady at New Tabernacle. She also enjoyed going away to camp with the youth and spending time away on women retreats; so much so, she was affectionately called the Bishop. Anna enjoyed it all. There was never a dull moment and she was always looking forward to her time with the family she loved.

Lady Anna was very creative and for a period of time, she was an entrepreneur over her Plaster-Craft business. She painted home décor items to the pleasure and satisfaction of her customers. She continued this business until she was no longer able to paint. Anna then began to pursue her desire to become an Avon Manager. She started out selling Avon, and was able to solicit the support of friends and family to help her with sales. Anna accomplished her goals and became an Avon Manager until her retirement. She traveled often with Avon, visiting various states and some international travel. Anna met people all over the country and some were famous. She enjoyed sharing her adventure with Avon with family and friends. This was an exciting time for her.

Anna loved her church, New Tabernacle Baptist Church, and cherished each and every member from the beginning of 1975 until 2020. Thank you, New Tabernacle, for the love and support you gave to Lady Anna.
